Today's blog post is our review of the new MAC Cosmetics Lip Duo. I do have to note that I did not actually plan to purchase the Lip Duo during my last visit to MAC. I originally went in looking, specifically, for a dark red or wine lipstick shade, something that could be used during the Halloween and Fall Holiday season. After testing a few swatches of different shades, I decided to go with the Sin Matte Lipstick but before I made my way to the counter, a sales associate recommended I take a look at the Lip Duo because it also came in Sin. So I did. The sales associate told me about the price value and what products I would be getting in the kit. The duo, if items were purchased separately, would cost approximately $40, but the duo is priced at $27 so you are definitely getting a deal.

When I got home, it was time to try out the new products! Although I am well versed in MAC matte lipsticks (they are my favorite), I am not much of a fan of lip pencils (I only use one at this point: E.L.F. Natural). I absolutely loved the Sin lipstick, it is the perfect shade for the Fall season, especially for the events that I was specifically looking for a new color for. I am, however, not much of a fan of the burgundy lip pencil. I found it to be a little bit overbearing of the lipstick and a bit messy. It didn't glide on as easily as I had hoped, but nevertheless, I am willing to give it another shot.

I would definitely recommend the Sin matte lipstick to anyone looking for a dark red/wine shade for the Fall. If you are looking to purchase just the lipstick, it is $17.50, which is something I highly suggest doing. This particular shade of MAC lipstick is strong enough on its own that you will probably not need the lip pencil. If lip pencils happen to be the thing for you, then this duo product kit is a great value and a fun gift to get yourself or someone you may know that loves lip kits.

MAC Cosmetics is my favorite makeup brand, I love everything they have to offer. My review of the new Lip Duo is my personal preference; someone else may absolutely love the lip pencil portion of the duo. My preference is to just go for a lipstick and not accompany it with anything. I do, however, recommend trying the Lip Duo, because it is a great value of price and product.
