REVIEW : PLAY! by Sephora - February Beauty Box

We are super excited to review our very first PLAY! by Sephora Beauty Box! We have been looking for a new beauty box to sample and review products and we decided a few weeks back that we would go with Sephora. We here at ELECTRIC love Sephora and all of the amazing products and brands they offer so it was a total no brainer that we would try their beauty box.

One thing we did seek out while searching for fun beauty boxes to try was the ability to create a profile based on a physical look and preferred product types, which PLAY! by Sephora does offer. The PLAY! box allows you to create a profile and add in all of the physical features about yourself. Here at ELECTRIC, we have a resident beauty blogger who we based our profile on and we are looking forward to hearing what she thinks about our first PLAY! by Sephora beauty box!

PRODUCTS

SEPHORA COLLECTION Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

CLINIQUE Quickliner for Eyes in Intense Ebony

FRESH Rose Face Mask

WANDER BEAUTY Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks

LANCOME Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Gel Moisturizer

MARC JACOBS FRAGRENCES Daisy Love (bonus)

I have to note that while I did like some of the products, individually, I was, however, highly disappointed with the PLAY! by Sephora Beauty Box as an overall. I thought that the products were not diverse enough, being that 4 out of the 5 were "beauty/wellness" products for the skin, with only one product being an actual makeup product. Also, the Bonus Gift was a perfume, which was okay, but not something I would have preferred to receive. Although Sephora is known for more then just makeup, it is their primary merchandise so I would have liked to see a few more traditional makeup products. On the website, the beauty boxes are also shown with little pouches that seem to be included with the box but we did not receive any sort of pouch. Based on our first experience with this beauty box here at ELECTRIC, I would only recommend a subscription if you are in search of a beauty box that does focus heavily on skin care and wellness.

Sephora Collection Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

I typically use just an old fashion routine of soap and water to remove my makeup and cleanse my face, but when I tried this product, I was surprised to find that I actually liked it. This Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover by Sephora is also cost effective, which is a huge plus! When researching, I found that it comes in three (3) different sizes, which is another plus - the sizes and prices are listed below.

1.69oz - $7.50

4.2oz - $11

6.76oz - $15

I will definitely be looking into purchasing this item in the travel size for when I am away from home and do not have access to my preferred products!

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Intense Ebony

I really enjoyed this product. I had been looking for a new eyeliner to try so it was luck that this product was in our beauty box. When I researched the full size of this Clinique Eyeliner, I found that it is only $18, which is a great price for this type of product. Clinique is such an established brand that I had no hesitations or perils about this liner.

Fresh Rose Face Mask

I really enjoyed this product, it definitely lived up to that "fresh" feel. What I liked most about this Rose Mask product from Fresh Beauty is that there was actually a good amount of actual product. I only used about a dime-size amount and there is still plenty left, which is great, because now I can add it to my travel bag. It retails at $62, which is a bit of a splurge, but I would say: go for it!

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks

Due to allergies, I did not try this product, but passed it along to a friend and she loved it. I did research the retail price, though, and I have to say, I think it is a bit on the expensive size - $25 for a standard size pack. Personally, I don't know if I would make an actual purchase of these because I do favor charcoal masks. I am looking at purchasing other Wander Beauty products, though, so check back for another blog on more of their items!

Lancome Hydra Zen Anti-Stress Gel Moisturizer

This product was something that I was actually a bit hesitant to try because I have always felt as though "anti-stress" products could be a bait and switch. My friend and I both gave this a try, though, and we both actually liked it. I always love being surprised by a new product. I would say, however, that I found the retail price of $48 for this Hydra Anti-Stress Gel to be a little high, but I would still recommend asking for a sample at Sephora.

Marc Jacobs Fragrances Daisy Love (bonus)

Okay - I have to be completely honest with this product - I am not a Marc Jacobs girl, so I did have a bit of a bias when it came to this perfume. It did surprise me, however, with having a good scent. I don't know if I would make it a full size purchase, though, and I do think that the retail prices are a bit on the high end - the 1.7oz is $84 and the 3.4oz is $104. Myself and my mother both wear designer brand perfumes and they are not as high in price as this particular one, so that would be a concern for me.

NOTE:

I recommended to our product team that I would try this beauty box at least once more, to get a better feel of different products and hopefully a few more diverse or typical makeup products.
